Richard Jewson JP, MA, DCL, HM Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk

Richard Jewson is HM Lord-Lieutenant for Norfolk and Custos Rotulorum.

Educated at Rugby School and Pembroke College, Cambridge, he first worked in the timber and building material supply industry, becoming managing director of Jewson and then chairman of its parent company Meyer International plc from which he retired in 1993. He was chairman of Savills plc for ten years until 2003. He is currently chairman of Archant Ltd, and Raven Russia plc and a non executive director of Grafton Group plc, Temple Bar Investment Trust plc, Clean Energy Brazil plc and other unquoted companies.

He is married to Sarah with four grown up children and twelve grand children. He was brought up and  lives in Norfolk. He serves as Pro-Chancellor  and chairman of Council of the University of East Anglia, Patron of the Norfolk Community Foundation and Chairman of the Trustees of  East Anglia Art Foundation , as well as being Patron or President of  a range of  Voluntary and Charitable organisations in Norfolk. His interests include golf, horse trials, sailing, tennis, the environment, the visual arts and opera.
