Elizabeth Rutledge trained as an archivist but has mainly worked freelance as a lecturer and researcher. She has written widely on the history of Norwich, including the 'Norwich before the Black Death' chapter in Medieval Norwich, ed. C. Rawcliffe and R. Wilson (2004). She is a co-editor of the ongoing definitive edition of The Papers of Nathaniel Bacon of Stiffkey, having served as an adviser on the project since its inception. Elizabeth has served on the Norfolk Record Society council since 1995 and as the medieval hon. editor since 2000.
