Kristopher Harper was born and brought up in Norfolk; his family has lived in the Broads area of the county since the mid-1700s.  He has a particular personal interest in researching the history of country estates in Norfolk, Derbyshire and Wiltshire and is currently researching the life of James Lye, a leading Victorian fuchsia grower, exhibitor and Head Gardener of the Clyffe Hall Estate in Wiltshire, which was part of the Radnor Estates.

Kristopher has worked at the University of East Anglia since 2002, currently within the Learning and Teaching Service.  He has been a member of the Council of the Norfolk Record Society since 1999; he is also a Director and Trustee of Plant Heritage.  He is the holder of the National Plant Collection of Fuchsia Cultivars introduced by James Lye.  In 2012 he founded the Kristopher Harper Prize Fund which awards an annual student prize at four Norfolk educational institutions, including Paston College and the University of East Anglia.
