Probably the first provincial civic library to be established outside London, the Norwich Library has, uniquely, preserved detailed records covering the 1650s to the 1730s. Light is thrown on the intellectual life of the City, its reading habits and its theological preoccupations across a wide spectrum of religious opinion during these years.
