The bishop's visitation record gives a vivid snapshop of parish life in Norfolk and Suffolk in the late Elizabethan period, There is much on church fabric, furnishings and services and the qualifications of the clergy, but the bishop also investigated such matters as the licensing of schoolmasters and doctors, non-attendance at church and moral lapses among the laity.
