Richard Wilson is Emeritus Professor of Economic Social History at the University of East Anglia and a co-opted member of the Norfolk Records Committee. He has long been associated with the Norfolk Record Society as General Editor (Modern), 1991-2006 and Chairman.2002-2012. He is the author of Gentlemen Merchants (MUP, 1971), Greene King: a Business and Family History (the Bodley Head and Jonathon Cape, 1983), with T.R.Gourvish, The British Brewing Industry 1830-1980 (CUP, 1994) and with Alan Mackley, Creating Paradise: The Building of the English Country House 1660-1880 (Hambledon and London, 2000). He was director of the Centre of East Anglian Studies at the UEA, 1991-1997, much involved in the publication of Norwich Cathedral: Church, City and Diocese, 1096-1996 (The Hambledon Press, 1996) and, with Carole Rawcliffe, edited the big two volume History of Norwich (Hambledon and London, 2004). As an associate editor he wrote over twenty entries for the Oxford of Dictionary of Biography.
