The majority of books sold via our website are new. Occasionally, we receive donations of previously owned publications, which we can sell. Each book is classified into one of the following categories: New, Second-hand – Like New, Second-hand – Very Good, Second-hand – Good, and Second-hand – Well Read. Each classification contains additional information that specifies the book’s condition. Detailed descriptions of each condition category can be found below.
The Condition Categories are as follows:
New
- A brand new, unused, unread copy in retail condition
Second-hand – Like New
- An unread copy in undamaged condition. Pages are clean and not marred by notes or folds of any kind
Second-hand – Very Good
- A book that has been read but remains in excellent condition
- It may have writing on the inside cover such as an inscription from the previous owner
- A minimal amount of creasing to the spine
- Minimal note taking or highlighting
- Minimal discolouration of the pages
- Dust jacket present and undamaged
Second-hand – Good
- A book that has been read but remains in clean condition
- The spine may show signs of wear
- Pages can include notes and highlighting (possibly more than 15 pages)
- Dust jacket may be scuffed or torn
- Mild creasing of cover
- Slightly loose bindings
- Mild browning
- This book may come with library stamps within the first few pages. The cover may come with a plastic sleeve around it. There is also the possibility of library stickers on the cover or within
Second-hand – Well-Read
- A readable copy
- Numerous pages may include considerable notes-in pen or highlighting
- The spine could be warped with cracking and scuffing
- The cover may be discoloured and creasing
- Endpapers or title page maybe missing
- Could have some water damage
- Cover may be slightly torn or damaged
- This book may come with library stamps within the first few pages. The cover may come with a plastic sleeve around it. There is also the possibility of library stickers on the cover or within
