This detailed enumeration of people below the poverty line in Norwich, then the second or third city in the land, is a product of the City’s sophisticated approach to poor relief in the Elizabethan period.  Their ages, occupations, diseases and family relationships are all recorded.

Condition Statement:

• This is a second-hand book.
• The inside cover has a signature identifying the previous owner.
• Image towards front of book is part detached.
• The copy shows age-related wear, including marks, discolouration, foxing, or spotting.
• The dark red cloth gilt boards have minor bruises or rubbing.
