William Asshebourne’s Book, Edited by Dorothy M. Owen

The important manuscript which is presented here in an abbreviated form is a loosley bound parchment book, containing one hundred and twenty nine folios. It’s contents show it to have been a private memorandum book kept by the common clerk of Lynn, William Asshebourne, in the early fifteenth century, at a time of great municipal upheaval.

Before he entered the service of the town authorities Asshebourne had been employed by the Bishop’s administration, in the episcopal liberty at Lynn.
